Immediately stop using’: Recalled soap sold in Canada can be returned to Winners, Marshalls or HomeSense for refund

Castelbel liquid soap, which has been recalled due to microbial contamination, can be returned to a Winners, Marshalls or HomeSense location for a refund, according to a Health Canada recall notice dated Nov. 20.

The Health Canada recall notice said customers should “immediately stop using” the recalled products.

Between July and September, there were 2,224 units of the affected products sold in Canada. As of Nov. 7, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. 

What products have been recalled?

Batch No. 2401362 — 500 millilitre (mL) lemon verbena liquid soap; batch No. 2401435 — 500 mL coastal breeze liquid soap; batch No. 2401510 — 500 mL scalloped sea minerals liquid soap and batch No. 2401664 — 500 mL scalloped sea minerals liquid soap have been recalled.

This publication asked TJX Canada where the products were specifically sold but have not yet received a response.

Why has the products been recalled?

The Health Canada recall notice said the recalled products may have the presence of the micro-organism called Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

“Pseudomonas aeruginosa poses little medical risk to healthy individuals,” the recall notice noted. “Individuals with certain health problems or compromised immune systems are at an increased risk of infection if they use the contaminated product.”
