Ontario, Canada recalls: Wall beds with crush risk, frozen chicken, soy sauce dish with high lead levels

Numerous food and consumer products have been recalled by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Health Canada recently.

Recalled products include wall beds, Harley-Davidson motorcycle helmets, vape liquid, a soy sauce dish with high lead levels, toys that present a choking risk, nuts with salmonella contamination risk, potstickers sold at Walmart, carrots with possible E. coli contamination and more.

Dorel wall beds recalled due to serious impact and crush hazard

Thousands of Dorel wall beds sold in Canada have been recalled due to “serious impact and crush hazard.” The Health Canada recall notice dated Nov. 21 stated: “the beds can become detached from the wall and fall, posing a tip-over and crush hazard that can result in serious injury or death.”

As of Nov. 12, the recall notice said there has been a report of a bed falling in Canada, but no report of concussions, contusions, cuts and bruises.

The company reported 2,614 units of the affected products were sold in Canada and 69,344 were sold in the United States between May 2021 to April 2024.

This recall involves Dorel full- and queen-sized wall beds sold online under the names Pinnacle, Paramount, Impressions, Holly Hills and Her Majesty wall beds. They were also sold as part of the brand names Signature Sleep or Novogratz. The beds were sold in white, light oak, grey oak, black oak, espresso, walnut and natural shades. They were sold with or without cabinets and lighting attached to the bedframe.

Winkler’s breakfast sausage and smoked turkey thighs recalled due to pieces of metal

The CFIA has issued a recall for Winkler’s brand breakfast sausage and smoked turkey thighs due to pieces of metal. 

The recall notice dated Nov. 21 said the products were distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Ontario.

CFIA said this recall is linked to the Sifto brand Hy·Grade salt, which was also recalled due to pieces of metal. The affected salt was used to make these recalled products. For more information on the food safety investigation, visit the CFIA’s website on that specific investigation.
