Woman, 70, dead after being struck by vehicle in Wallace-Emerson area

A 70-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle in the Wallace-Emerson area.

Toronto police were called to Lansdowne and Lappin avenues just before 4 p.m. for reports of a collision.

Speaking to reporters Friday night, Duty Insp. Jon Rose says the woman was walking in the crosswalk when a van making a left turn hit her at Lansdowne.

Rose says bystanders provided life-saving measures to the woman as paramedics were arriving at the scene. She was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the van remained at the scene and is co-operating with investigators, according to Rose.
