Two arrested in fatal stabbing of man in Scarborough

Two people are in custody following a fatal stabbing in Scarborough late Thursday afternoon.

Toronto police say they were called to the Eglinton Avenue and Danforth Road area just after 4 p.m. for reports of unknown trouble.

Paramedics tell CityNews the victim, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two people were arrested at the scene.

In an update, Insp. Scott Bradbury told reporters that officers initially couldn’t find a victim after responding to the call.

“When they showed up on scene, they couldn’t find a complainant or any evidence, so they continued their investigation,” he explained.

Police later found the injured man inside a nearby apartment unit.

“At the time, paramedic services were with the officers because of the original call and started to provide life-saving measures,” Bradbury said.

Unfortunately, the victim did not survive.

His identity is not being released at this time.

It’s not yet clear what prompted the stabbing.

“Officers are currently on scene speaking with witnesses to try and get a better understanding of what had happened this evening,” Bradbury added.
