Two people have been taken to hospital after a fire at a senior’s centre in Brampton inside one of the units.
Authorities say an elderly man in his 90s was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and remains in life-threatening condition.
Deputy Fire Chief Chantelle Cosgrove tells CityNews a second person was also taken to hospital but their injuries are unknown.
Some residents were checked for smoke inhalation but no one else was transported to hospital.
The fire broke out at Knightsbridge Senior Centre, near Bramalea Road and Queen Street East at approximately 7:00 p.m.
Cosgrove said the fire was contained to one unit and has been put out. The Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office has been called in to investigate.
