A mother and her baby were seriously injured after being struck by an SUV in North York on Sunday night.
Toronto police say they were called to the Caledonia Road and Glengrove Avenue West area, north of Glencairn Avenue, just before 6 p.m. for reports that a pedestrian had been struck.
When they arrived, they found a woman in her 30s, a man in his 20s, and an infant who had been injured.
The infant and mother were initially taken to the hospital with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. Their conditions were later upgraded to non-life threatening. A man, who was unrelated to the two, was also struck in the pedestrian crossing zone.
A fourth person was assessed by paramedics for minor injuries at the scene.
Investigators say the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
Police tell 680 NewsRadio that distracted driving is being looked at as a possible cause for the crash, but no charges have been laid.
