A 9-year-old girl was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle in North York on Friday night.

Toronto police say the girl was struck just after 6 p.m. in the Steeles Avenue West and Islington Avenue area.

Paramedics say the child was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
