A man is in custody after a woman was shot and killed in an apartment building in downtown Toronto early Saturday morning.
Investigators were called to a building on Jarvis Street, near Dundas Street East, at approximately 9:30 a.m. for reports of a shooting.
Police say an adult woman was located at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds. Life-saving measures were attempted, and she was taken to a nearby trauma centre, where she was later pronounced dead.
The age of the woman was not immediately available.
In an update Saturday afternoon, Duty Insp. Dan Pravicta said police had a suspect in custody. The man’s name, age, and relationship to the victim are not immediately available, as well as what possible charges he may be facing.
