One person is in custody and Toronto police are searching for an unknown number of suspects following a shooting in Scarborough on Friday night.

Toronto police say they received information just before 7 p.m. that several suspects were seen shooting at each other outside a building on Gilder Drive in the Midland Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East area.

The suspects fled the scene in multiple directions from Gilder Drive and Midland Avenue before police arrived but investigators confirmed firearms had been discharged.

Police said there was no immediate signs of injury and paramedics tell CityNews they were not called to attend the scene.

One man was in custody, according to police, and an unknown number of suspects remained outstanding. There were no descriptions immediately available.
