Five people were sent to a hospital, one in critical condition, on Saturday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash in Scarborough.
Toronto police say just after 1 p.m., a grey Toyota BZ4X was going eastbound on Sheppard Avenue East near Kennedy Road when it collided with a grey Dodge Caravan that was making a left hand turn out of a parking lot westbound onto Sheppard.
Investigators say the 36-year-old male driver of the Dodge Caravan was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries while the female passenger was not injured.
The 56-year-old male driver of the Toyota and two female children were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries described as minor.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
