Flooding has closed the Don Valley Parkway and other area streets in Toronto, including a stretch of the Gardiner Expressway and Lake Shore Boulevard, after torrential downpours hit the city this evening.

The parkway is closed in both directions between Bloor Street and Jarvis Street. Other area streets closed include:

• Southbound Allen Road at Lawrence Ave
• Eastbound Gardiner Expxy. at Jarvis St.
• Sections of the Bayview Ave. extension
• Lake Shore Boulevard West from Strachan Avenue to British Columbia Road
• Lower Simcoe Street from Front Street West to Bremner Boulevard
• Lane 3 of westbound Lake Shore Boulevard East from Don Roadway to Cherry Street
• Southbound Bayview Avenue from River Street to Lawren Harris Square

The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority issued a flood warning earlier this evening, noting flooding had already been reported at the Don watershed at Bayview.

Michael Garron Hospital reported that its emergency department is experiencing flooding. It was operational, but those with urgent, but non-life-threatening health issues were asked to consider other options.

The OPP has also reported multiple road closures across the GTA, including Highway 407 eastbound at Keele Street in Vaughan is closed due to flooding in the area.

Meanwhile TTC, Trains are also not stopping at St. Patrick station and northbound at Union Station due to flooding.

On Line 6, there is no service between Finch West and Humber College stations due to debris on the tracks.

Ferry service to the Toronto Island has also been shut down due to the storms.
