A motorcyclist has died following a crash in Scarborough.

Toronto police say a motorcycle was travelling eastbound on Eglinton Avenue and a car was going westbound and attempting to make a left-hand turn at McCowan Road when the crash occurred just before 6 p.m. Sunday night.

The motorcyclist was transported to a nearby trauma centre.

Duty Insp. Dan Pravica confirmed that the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the hospital. The age of the man was not immediately known.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
