Three people have been taken to hospital including a child after a multi-vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of Highway 403 in Mississauga, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say.
It was reported that around 5 p.m. Tuesday just west of Mavis Road, two vehicles were involved in a crash. Both moved to the shoulder to exchange information outside of their vehicles.
Shortly after, a third vehicle collided with one of the vehicles, pushing it forward into two people, a 43-year-old man and a 12-year-old child, as they were standing on the roadway.
Both of them were taken to a Hamilton hospital with critical injuries. OPP say they are U.S. residents.
A third person suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the third vehicle was not injured
The highway is closed between Mavis Road and Erin Mills Parkway and is expected to be closed until 10 p.m.
